Karen Bryant is chief executive officer of Atavus. Decades of hard work and success have earned her a place on the list of the Northwest’s most successful sports executives. With nearly 30 years of executive experience in sports, Bryant is widely acknowledged as a professional sports visionary, a community builder, and talented business woman.
Prior to Atavus, Bryant spent 18 years in professional basketball. Initially recruited by the Seattle SuperSonics to help bring a WNBA team to Seattle, she became CEO of the Seattle Storm and was at the helm during the team’s WNBA Championship seasons in 2004 and 2010. Under her guidance the Storm also gained prominence as one of the league’s premier franchises off the court as well, setting new standards for customer service, attendance, and community engagement.
VP, Football Operations
Kerry Carter runs football operations for Atavus, putting him at the intersection of client needs and programming content.
Kerry played college football at Stanford University where he is still 7th on Stanford's career rushing list, 4th in career rushing touchdowns, and 7th in career touchdowns. He played professional football for the Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins, and Montreal Alouettes with whom he won two Grey Cups.
Prior to Atavus, Kerry founded an operated an agency focused on cause-driven marketing.
VP, Football Programming
Rex Norris is Atavus' vice president of football programming, and the executive director of tackling certification. Rex's vision and hard work are the foundation of the Atavus Tackle System.
Norris spent the better part of two decades coaching high school football in Texas and Washington State, and as the son of a former NFL assistant, he has been around football his whole life. At Kentwood High he went 83-30 and never had a losing record.
Rex also coached a nationally renowned rugby program that sent a handful of players to the top levels of the sport. He won ten state titles and placed as a national finalist four times as a rugby coach.
VP, Partnership Development
Ron brings over 25 years of experience in corporate partnerships, revenue generation, and budget management to Atavus. Prior to his current role, Ron has held various positions in business development, marketing and sales, including most recently with IMG College and the Seattle Seahawks. Ron’s proven record of building broad-based relationships and his deep understanding of the sports industry are a welcome addition to the leadership team.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University, where he was also a member of the football team. Outside of work Ron enjoys supporting his two girls in their educational and sports endeavors, traveling with his family, and spending time with his many pets.
VP, Product Development
Will Sickles brings 15+ years’ of digital product experience to his role as head of product development. He is a former Product Manager of the award-winning Group Health web and mobile customer portals responsible for over $40 million in cost savings and revenue generation. Will also lead product development efforts at MFS Investment Management supporting the effective control of over $100 billion in assets under management.
As a member of the U.S. Navy, Will oversaw tactical communication plans in support of Naval counter drug operations. He is a former high school and college track coach. He holds a bachelors degree from Allegheny College.
John Gallagher is marketer, technologist, and coach, not necessarily in that order.
Gallagher joined Atavus in spring of 2018 to lead marketing efforts, bringing 25+ years of experience to the role. In the decade prior to joining Atavus, Gallagher helped grow B2B SaaS technology startups DocuSign and Market Leader. Before then, Gallagher worked at larger organizations including stops at Costco Wholesale and Wyndham Worldwide.
When he's not growing startups, Gallagher enjoys coaching. He holds a national coaching license from U.S. Soccer, and has coached both recreational and try-out based teams for his club. John has a bachelors degree in history from Whitman College, and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.
VP, Finance & Administration
Diane Hager acts as Atavus' head of accounting and finance, and most passionate rugby fan.
She brings decades of financial leadership and experience to Atavus having worked at top companies like Ticketmaster, Lighthouse, and Jefferson Wells. Prior to Atavus she was CFO at Cornish College of the Arts.
Diane holds a BS in Accounting from the University of South Dakota.
