Atavus and Kansas Football Coaches Association Announce Tackling Certification Partnership

Wichita, KS. — Atavus, a leader in tackling education, certification, and performance analysis, has announced a new partnership with the Kansas Football Coaches Association (KFBCA) that will encourage coaches across Kansas to complete the Atavus Tackling Certification course. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to coach education, player safety, and better on-field performance through modern, teachable tackling methods.

The Atavus Tackling Certification is developed using Atavus’ patented, data-driven tackling system and technique, which the company says has been proven to reduce head contact and improve team performance. Atavus states that teams using its system see 50% less head contact, 50% more wins in one-score games, and 8% fewer yards allowed, underscoring the connection between safer technique and stronger defensive play.

Kansas is the latest of several states and associations over the years to adopt or partner around Atavus Tackling Certification, joining states such as Georgia, Arkansas, Indiana, and most notably Texas. In 2018 in Texas, Atavus partnered with the Texas High School Coaches Association and UIL on what Atavus described as the first statewide mandate around tackling certification for football coaches, helping certify thousands of coaches.

Atavus emphasizes that its Tackling Certification is not built to simply check a box. The course was designed to give coaches real knowledge, practical tools, and implementation resources so they can learn the system, teach it inside their own program, and see measurable growth in both safety and performance.

The certification includes instruction on the Atavus Tackle System, patented concepts, pre-contact technique, near-shoulder contact, drill progression, levels of contact, and a final assessment. Coaches who complete the program gain access to structured teaching materials intended to help them apply what they learn in practice, not just complete a compliance requirement.

The Kansas Football Coaches Association partnership reinforces growing momentum around coach education models that combine safety, accountability, and football-specific instruction. By recommending Atavus Tackling Certification to coaches across the state, the KFBCA is helping support a stronger foundation for teaching tackling the right way.

Coaches, leagues, and associations interested in exploring a partnership with Atavus are encouraged to request more information through Atavus to learn how tackling certification can support coach development, player safety, and program performance.
